Better for You Chocolate Frosty

I have a a former life, not too long ago, I LOVED frosties. Well, I'm sure that is true for everyone.  The confession is that I not only loved frosties, I've been craving one for the last couple of months and considered getting one last weekend when I had a terrible sore throat.

Okay, I feel better now.

Instead of caving to my craving, I found a way to make one at home instead.  And lets be honest, this one is not only better for you but unlike Wendy's (well most of them) this is available whenever you want it!

Plus this is the week before Valentine's Day which means that I owe you better for you chocolate recipes so you can avoid the sugar hearts and the boxes of chocolate truffles...make the one you love something better for you and homemade instead!  I promise it will be easy and much more apreciated than just picking up sugary candies (hint hint hubby)!
Chocolate Frosty
3-4 medium bananas, frozen
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 - 3/4 c milk of choice (I used skim)
1/2 c dark chocolate chips

Freeze your bananas (peeled and chopped into 1" pieces).
Once frozen, add into a food processor with the cocoa powder and milk.
Blend until the bananas are chopped up (pulsing first).  Then add the chocolate chips and process until smooth.
Once smooth (frosty texture), serve and enjoy!
I promise, this one tastes even better than the real thing...and your hips will thank you later!

Yum! This looks so easy and still so delicious! I think we should make these and take them to the beach when it warms up some more :)

Absolutely! This is a perfect beach treat! Especially because it melts so you can't 'save' it!

I want to try this although I'm allergic to bananas! Do you think the chocolate chips are necessary? For some weird reason, I don't like cold hard chocolate in my ice cream or ice cream like beverages. Do the bananas need to be super ripe like for banana bread or just normal?

Oh no! This may be a problem if you are allergic...and the chips are not necessary. I like that little crunch (and added chocolate) throughout, but please feel free to leave them out if you want a smoother texture (like a real frosty). And great question! The bananas do not need to be super ripe. Just make sure you freeze them without the peel (I made that mistake the first time) and chop into pieces before freezing.

And if you aren't watching your sugar intake, why not make this with some vanilla frozen yogurt? Or ice cream for that matter. It will also give you a little smoother consistency too. Enjoy!

It'll be okay. Thankfully they don't kill me. That's great about the bananas! I'll buy some tomorrow and make this some time next week.

I sadly am watching my sugar intake. :(

Okay so I already made it. I wish I could eat bananas. I really love this! I would eat this every day if I could but my throat feels a bit funky already so I've got to stop drinking it.

My husband said he liked it too but complained that my bananas weren't ripe enough. I just couldn't wait! I'll make this again for him with riper bananas. Thanks for a healthy treat recipe that he's willing and even likes to eat! :)
